Meet The Team

ALAN TYRRELL

My name is Alan Tyrrell and I have been working in the travel industry for over 9 years, 6 of which have been with SAYIT. If I could list my biggest passion, then it would be one of adventure and travel. In Asia I have trekked through the jungles of Northern Thailand, visiting some of the most wonderful and friendly tribes, visited the many ruins of Angkor complex, and travelled through Mongolia and Asian Russia on the Trans Mongolian Train.

In Australia, I have air-ballooned over the orange groves of Cairns; scuba dived in The Great Barrier Reef, and climbed the Sydney Harbour Bridge. In South Africa I have bedded down in an unfenced campsite in Kruger National Park, stared through God’s Window, and drank my fill in the fantastic South African wineries. In Central America, I have climbed the great Sun and Moon temples of Teotihuacan Pyramids in Mexico to the great temples in Tikal in Guatemala. I have also travelled extensively throughout Europe and the US. So many more adventures to go………

MOIRE O DONOVAN

I have worked in the travel industry for 10 years and I have spent the last 4 years specialising in South & Central America.

Whilst South & Central America boast many Natural Wonders of the World, the true wonder of it for me is the people, the natural beauty almost around every corner and most importantly the culture.  If you want to immerse yourself in a vibrant, exciting and warm culture, then South America is the place for you.

My first trip to South America was a backpacking trip for 2 months.  I liked it as soon as I arrived but the further along in my travels I got, the deeper my affiliation grew with it.  It has the most remarkable scenery and an abundance of things to see and do.  I visited Rio de Janeiro, Ihla Grande, Bonito, The Pantanal and Corumba in Brazil before crossing the border to Bolivia where I stayed in Santa Cruz, Cochabama, Samaipata, La Paz and Lake Titicaca including an excursion where I cycled down the world's most dangerous road! The trip finished up with a few days visiting vineyards around Santiago in Chile.  I have since returned to Brazil and visited Sao Paulo, the beautiful beaches around Natal, such as Pipa beach in North Eastern Brazil and the pretty fishing village of Buzios, just North of Rio.  I also visited Venezuela for 2 weeks and highlights included the Los Roques Archipelago, Orinoco Delta, Canaima National Park, the worlds highest waterfall Angel Falls and the Caribbean island, Margarita Island.

Other countries I have visited include Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, Malaysia, Vancouver - Canada and the US - Boston, New York, Cape Cod, Cape May, Washington DC, Seattle & Los Angeles.

I interrailed through Europe...all the way back before the Euro was introduced and we had a different currency in each country - we visited France, Switzerland, Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Holland and Belgium.  I have also been to Italy, Denmark, Sweden, Turkey, Tunisia and the Canary Islands along with a skiing holiday to Andorra!

A lot of our travel consultants have travelled throughout South America and some of their highlights include trekking in Torres del Paine National Park & the Inca Trek. Flights are great value and we offer tailor made or group itineraries so please contact us to book your trip of a lifetime!

TRISH ODONOVAN

My name is Trish and I am a Travel Advisor with SAYIT Travel. I have worked in the industry for over 9 years.

In addition to Ireland I have lived in Australia and New Zealand. I have travelled extensively around the world to such wonderful places as Fiji, Canada, USA, Cook Islands, Bali , Hong Kong, Thailand,  Singapore, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Mexico, South Africa, Costa Rica, New Zealand and Australia.

I have to say I love travelling, seeing new places and meeting new people. Some of my favourite memories would be of New Zealand especially the South Island, the scenery is spectacular and there are great opportunities to go whale watching and dolphin swimming. My other favourite hotspot would be Bolivia where the cost of living is very reasonable especially for a budget traveller and the people are extremely friendly.

BRIDGET HARKESS

Kia Ora! My name is Bridget and I am one of your friendly Travel Advisors based here in Cork!

Having been born and bred in Australia and New Zealand I have have the local knowledge when planning your trip Down Under. In addition to Australia and New Zealand I have lived in China, America, and of course Ireland. My travels have brought me around the world to places such as Fiji, Vanuatu, Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, Northern India, Turkey, Singapore, South Africa, Burma, Singapore, Hong Kong, Iceland and mainland Europe. Whatever you are planning for your holiday I will be able to help, from your weekend getaway, through to tours, cruising and the big round the world trip.

I have a passion for travel and love helping people get the best out of any holiday that they are planning. Having worked both here and in New Zealand it allows me to draw on a great wealth of knowledge, especially for those of you who are planning on heading South for the year. I look forward to seeing you in the office to book your trip!

My two personal favs are Vanuatu and Malaysia! Vanuatu has wonderful people and fantastic beaches and to add to it all fabulous diving! Kuala Lumpur is a great city, not only for those culture vultures out there, but also for those in need of retail therapy. The shopping is fabulous, well worth a couple of days if you are passing through, and if you venture a bit further the beaches on the East coast are well worth a visit!

CLARE O DWYER

My name is Clare O'Dwyer and I have worked as a Travel Advisor for 8 years. Previously I have spent a year living and working in Australia, during this time I lived in both Sydney and Darwin and worked as a travel agent, a waitress and did a short stint as a mango picker! Since then I have travelled to Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, Argentina, New York, Morocco, Antigua, Greece, Croatia, Spain, Amsterdam and Edinburgh.
I really have a passion for travelling.  My favourite places so far have been in Asia and South America.  Some of my highlights of Asia were relaxing on the beaches on the Islands in Thailand, the full moon party on Koh Phangan, cruising in a Junk in Halong Bay, Vietnam and of course the shopping...everywhere!  South America has so much to offer and I loved all I saw, Rio was an amazing city, like nowhere I had ever been before, the Iguassu Falls were really stunning and doing the Inca Trail was such an amazing experience. If you need advice on travelling to any of these places please don't hesitate to contact me.

DEIRDRE OLEARY

My name is Deirdre and I have worked as a Travel Advisor for 10 years.

I have travelled extensively to the following fabulous places; Majorca, Greece, Turkey, Amsterdam, Milan, Brussels, Barcelona, Alicante, Salou, Lisbon and the Estoril cost in  Portugal,  USA - Florida, New York, San Francisco, LA, Las Vegas, San Diego, Portland, Vancouver, Salt Lake City, Mexico, Australia, Thailand, South Africa, Malaysia, Tunisia, Turkey, Brazil, Argentina and most recently to Botswana and Zambia on an adventure tour which was unforgettable! My two favourites places were Thailand and Brazil. Thailand has everything you could ask for in a holiday - its exotic, fantastic weather, beautiful islands, vibrant city in Bangkok, wonderful food, great value for money and the people are warm and friendly. Brazil is pretty much the same, it has so much to offer, great weather, beautiful scenery ranging from magnificent waterfalls, gorgeous sun drenched islands and swamp lands. Rio is stunning and you still get good value for money.
